What is Question Popularity?

Popularity rankings are our system for voting on the importance of questions.

It's your opinion on whether you think other contributors and visitors will be interested in a given question.

The questions with the most Popularity votes go to the top of the category page. It's how questions become Frequently Asked Questions.

Why isn't there an Answer Popularity system?

This is something we may add. However, one major complication is that answers can be improved upon over time. What was once an unpopular answer could become more useful, and vice-versa.
