Is Kira Yamato a Newtype?

A type of human gifted with amazing powers of insight. The emergence of Newtypes is predicted by Zeon Zum Deikun, who believes that living in space will usher in a new stage of human evolution. During the One Year War, the researchers of the Principality of Zeon confirm the existence of people with superhuman powers of intuition and awareness, and learn to use these abilities for military purposes. In the following years Newtypes come to be seen as living weapons, a perception that they must somehow overcome if they ever hope to bring about the human revolution that Deikun predicted.

As the researchers of the Principality's Flanagan Institute discover, Newtypes have an unusual ability to transmit and receive the thoughtwaves, or psycho-waves, generated by human mental activity. This enables Newtypes to communicate with machines via thought alone, and their sensitivity to the thoughtwaves of other humans allows them to react to the hostile intentions of enemy pilots with superhuman speed. These abilities make Newtypes lethally effective in combat.

A human being whose mental and physical abilities have been enhanced through genetic engineering. Coordinators learn more quickly than normal humans, and their bodies are stronger, faster, and virtually immune to disease. Due to these differences, they have often been viewed with jealousy and mistrust by unmodified Naturals. In recent decades, a worldwide ban on genetic modification and a rising tide of anti-Coordinator sentiment have driven most of Earth's Coordinators to relocate to the orbital settlements known as PLANTs.

The genetic modifications that create a Coordinator can be performed only in the earliest stages of embryonic development. However, these genetic enhancements are then passed on to the Coordinator's children. When normal parents have their children turned into Coordinators, the children are described as first-generation Coordinators, whose own children will then be second-generation Coordinators, and so forth.

The era of the Coordinators began in the year C.E. 15, when George Glenn revealed the secret of his origins and released the necessary genetic engineering techniques onto the worldwide network. However, such genetic modification remained illegal for many years, and so the earliest Coordinators were born and raised in secret. The Coordinator boom started in earnest in C.E. 30, and came to an end with the adoption of the Torino Protocol in C.E. 55, when genetic modification was once again prohibited everywhere on Earth.

Ultimate Coordinator

Is a coordinator created with the usage of an artificial womb to circumvent the natural womb's shortcomings in order create an infant, which has all the intended genetic modifications without any deviations. This means that Normal Coordinators are modified but are still not 100% successful, using a RPG as an example, if you wanted to create a coordinator with + 10 to all stats (STR + 10, INT + 10, DEX + 10, etc) the result might be (STR + 10, INT + 5, DEX + 2) but if you wanted to create an Ultimate Coordinator the results will be + 10 to all stats (STR + 10, INT + 10, DEX + 10, etc) just like you wanted.

Mitsuo Fukuda told in interviews that Mwu and Rau are the Last Newtypes of the CE Century, but Sunrise (the owners of the Gundam Franchise) confirmed that there are no Newtypes in the CE Century, Mwu and Rau's skill has been given the term, Spatial Awareness Ability (空間認識能力).

Spatial Awareness Ability is just one of a Newtypes skill, (read meaning above) Kira Yamato cannot emit Psychic pressure (ie Scirocco, Haman Karn, Kamille Bidan, Judau Ashta, Amuro Ray and Char Aznable). Kira can't speak with other people using his mind a Newtype trait commonly scene in the UC era and Kira Yamato can't speak with dead people and dead newtypes (ie Amuro Ray speaking with Lalah Sune)

People always say that Kira Yamato is a newtype because of the newtype flash, just like Mwu, Rau and Rey (Sons/Clones of Al Da Flaga where Kira got he's DNA) newtype flash occurs in SRW OG games where Newtypes don't exist, and the newtype flash of said persons only occurs with the 4 of them who share Al Da Flaga's DNA. People always say that the newtype flash of Kira Yamato in episode 39 of GSD proves that his a newtype, that doesn't prove anything it could be called Fan Service to Gundam fans (Mitsuo Fukuda is a fan of Yoshiyuki Tomino and the Original Gundam Series), if you have watched the Universal Century Gundam series you'll know what a Newtype really is, and as stated by Sunrise there are no Newtypes in the Cosmic Era.

In UC,Newtypes control BITS, FUNNELS and FIN FUNNELS using their minds with an equipment called a psychoframe.

In CE, Coordinators and Naturals use the DRAGOON System a computer powered targeting system, the 2nd Generation DRAGOON system have been improve so that they can be used by any coordinator or natural. the 1st generation DRAGOON system was only used by Rau Le Creuset a person with the Spatial Awareness Ability. (Not counting SEED Side Stories)
