HI; THE GUN SHOULD HAVE THE SIZE OF THE AMMO THAT IT WILL SHOOT ON THE BBL. DO NOT USE LONG RIFLES UNLESS IT STATES IT AS YOU CAN CAUSE DAAGE TO IT. AND IT CAN ALSO BE DANGEROUS TO THE SHOOTER

I learned to shoot with a Remington Model 12 and put thousands of rounds of .22 LR through one. I would recommend using standard (target) velocity ammo, because after years of the high-velocity .22, the old Model 12 developed a barrel bulge and had to be retired.
