Why should parents know Sign Language?

[Edit]
Infants can understand language before their vocal apparatus develops sufficiently to allow them to speak. Sign language can be taught as early as three months and with a few simple signs, a baby's life can be less stressful because they will be able to communicate many of their basic needs with ease; like I want milk, I need my diaper changed, I love you, I want more, etc.

Although it can be 'taught' to your baby at 3 months of age, you should not expect your baby to sign back to you until she or he is at least 8 months old.
