Why lab gowns must be worn?

[Edit]

lab gowns

Lab gowns must be worn to protect your clothes and body from dangerous chemicals you may be using in the lab.

addendum

Lab coats, gowns, and other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) also have a few other uses.

Lab Coverings prevent debris, skin cells, dust and other contaminants from being shed into your experiment.

They also prevent anything that lands on your surface from being spread beyond the laboratory into eating areas, or the general public areas of the facility you work in.
That's why lab coats are supposed to be worn in the lab and donned or removed immediately outside the door
