Why is Valentine's Day represented by the colors pink and red?

[Edit]

Valentine's Day Pink and Red

For thousands of years people believed the heart was not only red, but also the soul and to gives one's heart was becoming one. The red rose still to this day signifies true love, passion and undying love. Westerners have since modernized this tradition (as many traditions can change from generation to generation) and many women prefer other colors of roses instead of the tradition red. Red roses in florists are far more expensive than other colors so this is another reason some people make choices to buy different colored roses (but, the florist industry is catching on fast and ALL roses, especially long-stemmed can be costly during this one time of year.) The average florst can mark-up their roses from 20% or more and is the only time of year where they make great profits on a holiday. The next busiest day for them is Christmas.
