Because his personality is in competition with anyone that may be around him. Let me guess ... you are out with guests and either playing some game or on a certain topic in conversation the N gets extremely competitive and even may cause an argument. I have a brother-in-law like this and I just ignore him and let him think he's right. Why waste the energy! Don't bother making a point or you will use up all the energy you have and will never win.
