Why does a blood cell not have a nucleus? In: Science [Recategorize] |
[Edit] |
Answer
Because they don't need one. The nucleus of a cell is responsible for cellular activity including cell division. (mitosis) Blood cells don't divide, they are produced by other cells within bone marrow. RBC's are mainly a cell membrane surrounding a glob of hemoglobin and they lack most of the organelles associated with "living cells." RBC's only job is to carry O2 to the cells of the body and carry CO2 away.
