1946 Nobel Peace Prize
Emily Greene Balch was one of the founders and leaders of the Women's International League of Peace and Freedom and the Woman's Peace Party. During the 1930's Balch proposed plans to mediate the conflicts in both Manchuria and Spain. In 1946 she was one of two recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize along with John R. Mott.
