Why are some colleges called a 'School of X' while others are a 'College of X'?

A school is a division of a college. For example, The University of XYZ has a College of Liberal Arts, College of Fine Arts, College of Engineering, etc. The College of Engineering may include a School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineering, etc.
