Who made the first basket in the NBA?

[Edit]

Answer

In the opening game of the new Basketball Association of American (BAA), on November 1, 1946, Ossie Schectman, who had starred at LIU, scored the first basket for the New York Knickerbockers, playing against the Toronto Huskies. Schectman's teammates were Sonny Hertzberg, Stan Stutz, Hank Rosenstein, Ralph Kaplowitz, Jake Weber, and Leo "Ace" Gottlieb. They won the opening game 68 tp 66 and finished the season with a 33 - 27 record.

In 1949, the BAA became the National Basketball Association (NBA), and Schectman's shot is still considered the first basket in the NBA.
