Norm Sloan was the coach. David Thompson was the best player ever to come out of the ACC. Michael Jordan could not handle D.T. as he was called. Thompson was awesome! For all you young cats born to this generation, you missed a SHOW!

I'm living in New York City now. But I was born and raised in Southern Pines. I went to Pinecrest..class of '76. David Thompson was and still my basketball idol today. I won't mention about how he jumped over team mate Phil Spence's head (Phil Spence is 6'9). I agree, today's b-ballers don't know what they missed.
