Which soccer team has the most supporters?

[Edit]

soccer

Manchester United or England

Not at all, my friend. Sorry!

As a matter of fact, this is one very tough thing to determine. Although the popularity of football (or soccer as you wish) is much higher in South American and European countries, you could estimate that maybe a soccer team from India, China or Russia have the biggest number of supporters for a team.

As this kind of data is very difficult to obtain, we will work with what we have.

I know for sure that Flamengo, a team from Brazil, has the biggest number of supporters in Brazil and, compared to other data, is is almost 100% possible that it has the biggest number of supporters in the world also. It MAY BE overthrown by a Chinese or Russian team, but this kind of data is nowhere to be found. I have overthrown Man United for the fact that more than 21% of the Brazilians support flamengo, which comes to a gigantic number of fans. It is about 55% of the entire English population (numbers below) which is about 50 million people. It means that more than half England would have to support Man United to overthrow Flamengo.

That been explained, here we go for the numbers that were researched.

Top 10 Teams - Estimated number of supporters:

1) Flamengo (Brazil) - 28.299.981 2) Corinthians (Brazil) - 24.526.651 3) América (Mexico) - 18.355.494 4) Chivas (Mexico) - 17.372.164 5) São Paulo (Brazil) - 15.093.324 6) Boca Juniors (Argentina) - 14.657.394 7) Palmeiras (Brazil) - 13.206.658 8) River Plate (Argentina) - 11.827.501 9) Juventus (Italy) - 11.040.000 10) Olympique (France) - 10.144.000

Also, we have some other data from other countries.

Spain - Real Madri (5.206.000) Chile - Colo Colo (5.195.730) Angola - Petro Atlético (4.636.989) Portugal - Benfica (4.241.960) England - Manchester United (4.209.000) Greece - Olympiacos (3.125.724) Scotland - Rangers (1.430.000)

There are many Brazilian blogs and sites with the discussion of the subject, which also affirm that Flamengo has the biggest number of supporters. You might need a Portuguese dictionary for that. I´m from Brazil, no problem for me there!

Let´s reaffirm that we are talking about CLUBS, not National Teams. On the National Teams area, I guess USA, Canada, China, India and so would beat the senses out of Brazil by population number.

Interesting info about China: on researching about the Chinese teams, the most popular teams nowadays is... Real Madrid! Previously, it was Manchester United, which leads me to believe that the Chinese support any team that David Beckham plays for hehehe!

As I said, there may be divergencies. There has been a lot of discussion about this data, but this is proven by researches done worldwide. Any other data will be "believed as".
