Where is the starter on a 1974 VW Thing located The dash lights light up when the ignition is switched on and i can hear a faint clicking noise but nothing else happens The battery is fully charged?In: Air-Cooled VW [Recategorize] |

The starter is on the passinger side rear,under the Thing and is attached to the transaxle.The starter solenoid might not be moving then you try to start the Thing. The solenoid moves forward and engages(turns) the flywheel thus turning over the engine. Remove the starter and have it checked.
