Where is the cam shaft position sensor located on the 2000 Lanos and how do you remove it and are there any diagrams on this.?In: Daewoo Lanos [Recategorize] |
[Edit] |
First off, the Cam Shaft Position Sensor may be one that has been recalled in the Lanos. You have to check the number on it to see if its in the series. You can get the series by registering your car at the Daewoo website and looking at the recalls for your car. Daewoo dealers should fix it free if its in the range. The only problem is that you have to remove it to find the number. I can't see the number from where it sits. I have been unable to remove mine because there are hoses that block the nut I have to remove. The closest Daewoo dealer is 2 hours away from me.
I have the 2001 Lanos. Facing the car after opening the hood, remove the top 4 screws from the spark plug housing (big black piece of plastic with the oil filler cap attached to it.) Remove the oil filler cap. Lift off the housing. you can now see the electric wire/plug that attaches to the top of the sensor. You can squeeze the wire plug to remove the wire harness. On the left wall of the spark plug housing, there is another big black piece of plastic held on by 2 bolts. One bolt is blocked by an A/C hose that I can't get past it. You need an angle headed wrench or something, the type that you can put it at any angle, at least thats what I would try.
But first, have a dealer check to see if yours is under the recall and have them replace it. There is no charge for them to check, Daewoo still pays them just to look as of at least January 2007.
Hope this helps. Please note, I am not a mechanic and any advice you use, you are on your own.
Answer
On my car looking from the front the camshaft position sensor is located just above and to the right of the two camshaft pulleys. Looking from the side it sits in between the two. I noticed it when I removed the plastic cover over the spark plug wires. Typically there is an electrical connecter and two bolts that hold it in place. But I can't say for sure on this car as I haven't done it myself.
