Vehicle Speed sensor / broken speedo
Usually the VSS is located on the gear box.
See if you can find it by looking between the firewall and the engine, sometimes it sticks out of the top of the gear box.
If you speedo is not working it can be caused by three things, most likely the wiring connection is broken, secondly a broken speedo cluster, thirdly a broken VSS. But usually the VSS is quite robust because it is basically a magnetic sensor.
