Where did Christianity begin?

[Edit]

  • According to the Bible, it was in Jerusalem at Pentecost, 33 C.E. (A.D.) . See Acts 2:48, "And the Lord added to the church daily..", and Acts 11:26, "And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch"

  • At the creation of this world, from God. God created this world in six days and rested on the seventh day.

  • at the Cross

  • Christianity originated with the First-Century Christians after the death of Jesus. At that time, the Mosaic Law Covenant ceased to be required for salvation, as the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ replaced the need for constant sacrifices. (See Hebrews 11 for a more in-depth explanation).

  • As the apostles died off at the end of the first century, Christianity became more blended with politics (the original Christians were politically neutral), and inter-mingled with some Pagan practices, to become what is known as Christianity today.

  • In Antakya, Turkey, by Paul and his gentile followers. Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.Antakya (Arabic: انطاكية‎, Greek: Ἀντιόχεια Antiókheia or Αντιόχεια Antiócheia) is the seat of the Hatay Province in southern Turkey, near the border with Syria. In ancient times the city was known as Antioch and has historical significance for Christianity, being the place where the followers of Jesus Christ were called Christians for the very first time. The city and its massive walls also played an important role during the Crusades. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antakya

  • This was the beginning of the the "name" Christians. The belief that there was going to need to be a Savior actually started with Adam. All the prophets from the beginning taught of the coming of Christ. The institution of the Law of Sacrifice was established with Adam. This law was meant to remind him and his posterity of a greater sacrifice that would need to be made for all mankind.

  • The term Christian means follower of Christ. Jesus Christ began his ministry in the year 29 C.E. soon after his baptism in the Jordan River. Christianity had begun, yet they were not called "Christians" until a short time after Jesus death. At Antioch they were given the name Christians (Acts 11:25-26).

  • In the Middle East, around Israel and Egypt. After Jesus came, died and ascended to Heaven, many Jews converted to a new religion called Christianity because they had seen the long-awaited Messiah that the Jewish religion still waits for today. In the Medieval times, Europeans and Catholicism made Christianity what it is today, while Martin Luther and his 95 Theses started the Protestant Reformation in Europe around the same time.

  • from Judaism

  • It began when Christ came of age and began to preach for 3 1/2 years, as His followers were technically the "first Christians", though that term was not used until the believers in Antioch chose to call themselves that during Paul's missionary journeys.
So yes, Christianity began with Christ, His teachings, and His first followers.

  • Christianity started in the city of Bethlehem when a small child called Jesus Christ was born.

  • The religion itself was perpetrated by the Romans for political reasons. Paul of Damascus was the main Roman who promoted the movement getting funding from the Corinthians mainly. One can read the New Testament for verification. The term "Christianity" itself is derived from the Hindu God " Krishna" whilst the latter comes from "Akshar", a name for God. The "shar" part meant light and sound and later it became "shard" or a spark of God that separated from the Supreme Deity becoming the individual Soul.

  • About 2000 years ago in Israel, there was a man named Jesus who lived in a town called Nazareth. Jesus taught that He was the Son of God, and that we should all love one another (even our enemies), and many other things as well. Because He taught that He was the Son of God, He was tortured and hung on a cross beside common criminals. He died, and then 3 days later He rose from the dead.Christianity came about as a result of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

Amongst the Jews, with Jesus, the Christ of God, when baptized and anointed with holy spirit in 29 C.E. - Matthew 3:16,17
