Where can you dispose of old lawn mower gas? |
[Edit] |
Old Lawn Mower Gas
Most municipalities have some type of hazardous waste recycling facilities.
Or, run it through an old lawn mower with the motor running. :) Seriously though, you could probably take it to any mechanic. Depending on the amount, they'll probably dispose of it for you for free.
Assuming you are talking about a small amount of fuel, I have heard of people putting it into their vehicle fuel tank. Just make sure you have at least 3/4s of a tank in the vehicle when adding the old fuel. The small amount of old gas will mix with the newer gas in the car and won't hardly make a difference.
The actual best place is a automobile, with the 3/4 tank of fuel. Most consumers dont realize that fuel actually only has about a 30 day shelf life and when they buy gas in the spring, they dont want to do it again, best solution, always use fuel stabilizer, always, will keep your gas fresh for up to 2.5 years and you wont have to worry about getting rid of it. Also, in your equipment itself, DO NOT DRAIN THE FUEL, you should use the fuel stablizer so the fuel in the equipment will stay fresh also, if you run it dry, as alot of consumers are told, things tend to oxidize, creating more problems. I have been the lawn & garden parts business for 33 years...trust me....use stabilizers ALWAYS!
