If you are taking it because you had unprotected intercourse, take it right away, the sooner you take it the better the chances that you won't get pregnant. Remember to take the second pill 12 hours later even if it's in the middle of the night... set your alarm. Very important to take right away but no later than 72 hours because then it's no good.
