The best time to apply for financial aid is as soon as you and or your parents get your tax returns you file the fasfa immediately. The fasfa is the only way in US to get finicial aid. if you want scholarships look at the deadlines

FASFA is a great way to get financial aid. I would recomend that you apply about the same time you apply for colleges. Just make sure you meet the schools financial aid deadlines you are applying for.

Actually, the FASFA is not the ONLY way to get financial aid in the US. Most states also have their own grant programs. You can find out what is available by going to your state's website. Here are a few other places with lots of info:
