Thanksgivingis a day that gives thanks to the American indians and the pilgrims.

along to share something they like to do
and that was to eat.

Thanksgiving is a National or Federal holiday. When the first settler's came to America they had no means of growing their own food in the conditions here. The first winter wiped out a lot of them and the story goes that the local natives helped teach them how to grow crops and live off the land. They celebrated surviving that winter and making 'friends' with the native Indians by having a feast which eventually became a holiday the government established in honor of the early settlers. It is fairly common for people to celebrate the end/start of a growing season with feasts and dances all over the world. so this is certainly most likely why anything like this survived an an annual event the government would pick up and create a nation wide day of recognition. I am not positive of the timing of this at the moment, but this is close enough.
