Follow the unwritten house rules. Take your cues from your friend. Offer to help with the meals, and cleaning up. If they having nothing planned for the meal (and be sure before you offer), it would be a nice gesture to take them out or order something to be delivered.

Don't monopolize the bathroom especially if they have to work the next day. Make sure you cleanup after yourself. Leave everything as you found it.

As soon as possible upon returning home, send them a nice thank you card.
