What is the procedure to change the transmission fluid on a '97 Hyundai Elantra?

Answer

Manual trans: remove the filler plug and the drain plug, drain into a container, replace the drain plug, fill to the bottom of the fill plug hole with the correct oil (75W-85W gear oil), replace the filler plug.

Automatic trans: remove the drain plug on the pan, drain into a container, remove pan, clean or replace filter/screen, replace pan, fill with correct oil (not common Dexron II or III -- Hyundai ATF SP-II or Chrsyler spec 7176).
