What is the procedure for removing the a 5-speed manual transmission on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD with a 5.2L engine?

[Edit]

Answer

To start, remove the drive shaft from the rear end.( there should be four bolts holding it on). Remove the shifter completely. Next, remove all of the bolts from the bell housing that fasten the tranny to the rear of the engine.(you will need to remove the starter and oil filter to complete this). Then, place a jackstand underneath the transmission and remove the crossmember with the transmission mount. In most cases, the collector pipe for the exhaust will need to be unbolted from the headers. Before removing the tranny, make sure all wires and clutch connections are removed. At this point, you should be able to drop your transmission. - good luck, and be prepared to spend a few hours doing this.
