I have had this problem on my jaguar s-type, once finally properly diagnose (after about a thousand dollars two dealers and a specialist)it was nailed down to the fuel filters being dirty. Most cases the filter will pull trash from the bottom of the gas tank and clog up. Though the vehicle will perform normally at startup, performace will decrease as you drive and the fuel filter will become saturated with to much gas because of the dirt clog. This will cause the care to decelerate and stall even though your pressing the gas peddle.Buy a fuel filter for $15 and it will run fine.
