What is the legal age for a teenager to refuse medication for birth control that is making her depressed due to excessive weight gain which is forced upon her due to parental insistance?

[Edit]

Answer

You do not have to take those birth control pills at any age and not even your parents can force you. I suggest you go to your family doctor and explain your problem. There are other methods such as condoms. Birth control pills aren't particularly good for any woman, and of course the weight gain doesn't help. There are other birth control pills out there that don't put on weight. However, I am proud of the fact you don't want to put this garbage in your body. I suggest you really study on the web about safe sex and decide from there what you want to do. Your parents must have their reasons why they figure you need some protection against getting pregnant. Safe sex is the best way to go. See your doctor and don't be embarrassed. He/she hears this all the time.

Good luck Marcy
