People like that have no real feeling for others so it won't matter how you break up with this friend. She will not remember you in 6 months by choice. Just do it and get on with life, no one wants a Narcissistic person in their life.

I just stopped calling, visiting & speaking to her. You don't have to confront the N friend, you just have to fade away in their lives. I would not visit, call or make any overt actions of contact. When she called me I would keep the call really short & would plead "Gee, I don't know" when she asked me questions (she always called me for information on how she should deal with her private clients). It took 2 weeks & she never called again. I haven't heard from her for 8 years now.
The advice on this issue is always the same, ignore them & it really does work.
