String Theory
Simply and probably inaccurately stated, it's an attempt to explain the basic makeup of the Universe down at the subatomic level. String theory starts with quantum physics and goes beyond. According to string theory, everything is made up of "strings" which are subatomic entities and are not particles or energy but at the same time are both. Once you start dealing with quantum physics and string theory just about everything we think we "KNOW" is no longer valid and you tend to use terms that seem contradictory. String Theory is not a tool that you can use to support preposterous scientific allegations. String Theory is not an explanation for why you may think neutrons have charge.
String Theory is the attempt at unifying all that we know about Physics while maintaining the accuracy of what are current knowledge of Physics has. Albert Einstein devoted practically the entire rest of his life to seeking this Ultimate and "Perfect" explanation (The String Theory) Since our current explanation of physics is very ugly and awkward, at least as seen by professional physicists around the world.
There are four fundamental forces, the gravitational force, the electromagnetic force, the weak nuclear force and the strong nuclear force. They are currently very different from each other. Are current knowledge of physics puts no relationship between them. That is why String Theory arose, it unifies them all.
The Greeks thought that if we broke things down things would simplify, that however was not the case. When scientist broke things down they got atoms, but when they used Atom Smashers to dissect the Atom, what they got was hundreds of new particles floating about. So the String Theory simply states that every single thing in this Universe is comprised of tiny vibrating strings, vibrating at different frequency's. Depending of the type of vibration a string has you get a certain atom (think about when you pluck a sting on a guitar, the different strings produce different sounds so you hear different things). So now it was as if the whole universe was giant symphony of various strings being played producing different aspects of our universe. If we do manage to prove this theory, it would prove among many other things. For this theory to be real, it would prove the existence of up to a theoretical 11 Dimensions. or the strings are said to be vibrating in the "11th Dimensions".
