What is the 'Tanong sa Tagalog' category about in English and why do they have only that and not other languages? |
[Edit] |
Tagalog is the native language of the people of the Philippines.
Actually, Filipino is the official language of the Philippines aside from English; however, the Filipino (commonly spelled Pilipino in the Philippines) language was primarily based on the dialect -- Tagalog which is the dialect spoken by Filipinos living in the provinces surrounding the National Capital Region -- Metro Manila.
The reason why Tagalog became the most popular dialect is because Metro Manila is the seat of the national government, all the major national dailies, radio and TV stations are located there. Plus, it is the financial and educational district of the Philippines, hence, anyone who wish to transact from business, to education, health, politics, etc. need to understand Tagalog.
Tanong sa Tagalog means "Questions" in Tagalog. Tagalog is the national language -- or what we called the "native tongue" -- of Filipinos from the Philippines. Since we've got a lot of Filipino users here at WikiAnswers, they decided to include Tagalog in the main category.
