Answer
A combination of jazz and pop, with a rhythmic and often repetitive beat. Swing is usually performed by dance bands having 8 or more members, often accompanied by a vocalist and/or vocal group. Modern examples of swing bands would include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the George Gee Orchestra. The most famous swing bands rose to popularity in the 1930s and 1940s and included orchestras led by Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Charlie Barnet, and many others.
Answer
Swing Music all started with the change from ragtime, to jazz, then to swing. It all started at the turn of the century. The swing age was in the '20s when prohibition was not inforced correctly and the blind pigs and speak easies were very popular, especially in Detroit with the bootleggers (smugglers with beer). Swing was also popular in Germany at the time. It was outlawed though, but rebbelers risked their lives to 'swing'. It was considered the most fun time in the World (other than the world wars).
