The service engine soon light means that you car's computer has recognized something amiss and has recorded a 'code' in it's memory. Any auto repair shop would be able to plug into your car's computer, retrieve the code and tell you what it says. For a modest fee. Not a good idea to ignore this inless it only comes on VERY infrequently.
