It is French word meaning 'rebirth.' It is a period in art in which lots of changes happened.
"The Renaissance"
refers to a period beginning around 1450 when Europeans became interested in studying the world around them and made great advances in science and the arts. Historians consider the Renaissance to be the beginning of modern history.
