What is needed in order to sign up for credit counseling services?

[Edit]

Answer

What is needed in regards to signing up for credit counseling services will depend on which credit counseling company you decide to go with. Each company will have their own specific requirements, although there are some standards that almost all companies will ask for.

The first thing you’ll need is a list of your creditors and how much you owe each creditor. You should probably have your account numbers with you as well. You’ll also need to be prepared to sign a contract and you may need to give up all of your revolving credit accounts at the time of signing that contract. Picture ID is also usually a good idea to have when you’re signing any kind of contract.

Prior to your appointment, call and ask exactly what is needed from you so you can be prepared when the day comes.
