What is a morning pill? |
[Edit] |
The morning after pill is a emergency contraceptive medication which consists of two tablets which must be taken exactly 12 hours apart within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected intercourse.
The morning after pill (MAP) will prevent pregnancy from occurring if the above guidelines are followed. `The MAP can also be taken if current protection fails or in the instance of missed birth control pills during the time intercourse occurs.
In the UK the MAP is known as Levonelle and it will prevent your ovaries from releasing a egg and it will also alter the lining of the womb, so a fertilised egg cannot embed itself there.
