One of the traits that makes hybrids more desirable to some is that certain hybrids have been bred for their sugar content. Those varieties taste sweet and I believe hold their sugar content longer after being picked.

most traits cultivated are producer oriented rather then consumer oriented though this is slowly changing. you are more likely to find hybrids which grant desiese immunities and higher crop yields the sweeter or more nutrient varieties. zaf.
