What does division mean in the Bible? |
[Edit] |
[Edit]
Division in the Bible means the same as it does in math. It means to split apart or divide. There were divisions within the early church just as there is today. People had different worshiping practices which set them apart and caused some groups to think that they had the best or only way to worship. Within a single church these differences caused 'divisions' which would cause the church to split and a separate church would form. In some instances this caused friction between the churches. In others it allows the church to grow.
My tribe against your tribe. My religion Against your religion. My god against your god. My prophet against your prophet,
Summary: As highlighted by both answers above it means division among God's people and also between different groups of people. The first is more commonly addressed, since God's people should be united.
