What can you do if you are 18 and want to move out of your parents' house but you can't afford it? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Go to college - It will give you 4 years of living and an educations so you don't get stuck with a crappy apartment and crappy job for the rest of your life. If you think you can't afford it get student loans.
Try getting yourself a better job or join the military - other wise suck it up and stay at your parents home.
Answer
hmmmm...get a job that pays enough. work=money=own house. :)
Try to move in with a friend and their parents, see if you can stay with them and pay them a little bit of money ach month to help out. then try to get a nice job to save for a place of your own.
Answer
The work=money=own house equation is a good one! (I would think the military thing over very carefully). Most young men and women do not know how to budget their money and that's where the trouble comes in. Forget applying for credit cards and don't put things like pizza, McDonalds and Starbucks on your debit! In fact, get rid of the debit, keep a small sum of cash from your paycheck and deposit the rest in the bank. Don't smoke pot or cigarettes and if you do, quit...both are big money-burners! Start a savings account and add something to it each week, even if it's only $5 or $10. I know, no one wants to hear this but it is the only way to live independently and to provide for yourself later on. Believe me, no one else is going to provide anything for you. (I'm sorry, I probably sound a lot like your parents!)Good luck...
Answer
Roommates and lots of them. Even with a crap paying job if enough people are sharing the rent it is possible but if you want to live totally on your own there are super small apartments (like your kitchen is your bedroom small) and basement apartments.
