Answer

Usually it will smell down "there" after a woman has a menstrual cycle or sometimes during. Some women sweat more there than others and it can cause a bacteria to build up and that is what is causing the smell. Much like a yeast infection. The best advice is to see your Ob/Gyn and let them know the problem and they can fix it for you. I wouldn't try any sprays or perfumes, those could add to the smell and are only masking it for a while.

Answer

when I was reading through your letter i thought it was me. i have been suffering from vaginal odour for the last 7 years, despite consulting different gynecologists non of them could find a solution to my problem. Therefore i decided to search for information on the web and these is what i found out

1 there alot of vaginal gels that claim to eliminate vaginal odour for 3 days but when i tried some of them there failed to work.

the following infomation is what i have read on the web but i haven't tried it out due to finacial constraints

2 there tablets called enzara which claim that after using them after 1 week the vaginal odour will be reduced buy 95% their site is enzara.com.

there also other tablets called perfect scents and there site is perfectscents.com.

Innermint.com is another site offering tablets to deal with vaginal odour

3 some say chloroplly supplements and zinc supplements also help to reduce the odor

4 some say by drinking wheat grass juice will also help to neutralize the odour

well i hope this will help

Answer

Hello, Many people say that women shouldn't douche because the vagina cleanses itself. From a doctors point of view, at least once a month a woman should cleanse herself with a basic vinegar and water douche. Bacteria from sexual intercourse, medicinal creams, or menstruation builds up in the vagina and can cause a very unpleasant smell at times. Showers and or baths will not cure the smell alone because you can't wash inside of the vagina. So ladies, in order to rid that nasty smell that creeps upon you every now and again, douche at least once a month, preferably after your period is over. You'll feel fresher and sexier about yourself and that's very important. *Warning* Douching too much will wash away some of the vagina's healthy bacteria which will cause yeast infections or vaginal dryness both of which are very painful during sex. So ladies, be safe and God Bless!!!

Answer

I'm not sure what kind of "doctor's point of view" you have when you recommend that women douche at least once a month. Douching is not healthy at all for women. Douching rids the uterus of its own protective lining, and throws the natural bacterial system of the uterus out of whack, which causes painful, uncomfortable, and not-so-great smelling yeast infections. And when you do not have that protective lining, you are more susceptible to virus like HIV.

The vagina normally has its own distinct odor, if you think your vagina smells funny, so does every other woman. Other smells from menstruation, etc. can be treated by simply taking and warm bath and gently using a warm washcloth to clean the outside of the vaginal region. The uterus is a self-cleaning organ, it constantly sheds its own lining and it's flushed out during your period, so you shouldn't worry about yeast infection creams and bacteria from sex staying in the vagina.

Answer

i read something about tea tree vaginal suppositorys! I have not however tried them, but I know tea tree oil in it self has many know uses and is very good. consult your health care provider or local health food store provider for more information.

Answer

Well, my main concern is that i have just recently developed an odor "down there". Though it seems to smell only when i work out, and since this is my first time with such a problem I would like to know what others out there would recommend as a solution to my problem.

Answer

OK LADIES,THERES THIS MYTH GOING AROUND ABOUT HOW "ALL" WOMEN SMELL THE SAME, NOT TRUE!WHAT IS A FACT IS THAT AS A WOMAN GETS OLDER AND I PRESUME THAT IS THE CASE WITH THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE A PROBLEM, UPPER 30s AND 40ish .HERE'S THE LOW DOWN IF YOUR HAVING SEX MORE THAN TWICE A WEEK WITH OUT USING A CONDOM AND NOT DOUCHING AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS THAT SEMEN IN SIDE OF YOU WILL START TO STINK AND CAUSING WHITE DISCHARGE ON THE MANS PENIS,THIS IS NORMAL BUT GUYS DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH A SMELLY VAGINA. MY ADVISE, HAVE THE GUY WEAR A CONDOM "NOT ALL THE TIME " EJACULATE OUT THE VAGINA , EVEN TRY HAVING ANAL SEX , I UNDERSTAND COUPLES GET HORNY, BUT YOU GOTTA GIVE THE VAGINA A BREAK EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL IF YOUR PARTNER IS SUGGESTING SOFTLY WITH OUT TRY TO OFFEND OR HURT YOUR FEELINGS,WHAT HES REALLY IS TRYING TO SAY IS , YOUR VAGINA SMELLS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW! DOUCHE AND TAKE A BREAK,THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO WORK ON YOUR ORAL SKILLS.

A GUYS POINT OF VIEW

Answer

This worked for me..... I thought I had thrush so took a canesten capsule - didn't help - so it wasn't thrush. Went to the docs for a swab test - clear - so it wasn't bacterial vaginosis (or whatever else they test for by this method).

I've known about this suggestion for while but never tried it - I dipped a tampon in natural yogurt and left it in overnight whilst I slept. I've been fine since then.

I'll try this first next time.

Answer

Enzara definitely works, but it is expensive! I've had this problem for about 10 years and I've been sexually inactive for over 3 years, but the problem remains. Like all of you I bathe frequently, have tried this and tried that but nothing has worked. Tell a lie, antibiotics has worked in spite of no infection being found on vaginal cultures, but the problem always returned. I have chronic candidiasis, the kind that doesn't show up on conventional tests, so I'm on natural anti-candida treatment which I discovered after surfing the web. I had to do this because since all my tests were coming back negative, my doctor had me down as some kind of hypochondriac. Anyway I am making slow progress, but progress none the less. I discovered Enzara after surfing the net and received the product last week. Within the first couple of days I could detect no smell and I carried and it's continued to go well. The only thing is I don't know how long I'm going to have to take it, but my guess is that since I've had this problem for over 10 years it's going to take months to permanently correct. For now it's nice to know I can use public and other people's toilets with confidence. If I were sexually active right now I would be feeling extremely confident.

Men know (I am a married man) that women's vagina's have a smell. We know the smell is magnified when a woman is aroused. And that it is stronger when more aroused. We know it has a very unpleasant smell at menustration. We do not view the smell as a stench;except when menstruating view it as a normal odor every woman has as the way God in his wisdom made her. It is a odor we neither love nor hate;like nor dislike. One word of good advice. Use your hand or mouth to please your husband/boyfriend when you menstruate? because we see women as VERY clean/immaculate creatures. I guess that's why the smell doesnt really phase us. And of course women are beautiful. Not just physically;but they nurture and console soften and ease. Only the presence of a woman can make a house into a home.

So;ladies;if I may offer this. Don't expose your husband/boyfriend to your vagina when you menstruate. Dont let him experience up close (yes we have all smelled women's periods when we are in proximity to them;walking past;sitting near).Let your husband/boyfriend view your vagina as smelling "aroused" so his thoughts of your body are always clean and inducing thoughts of intamacy. Many men;once exposed to a putrid menstrual smell;will never view their woman's vagina the same. Give up the 1 week per month so his mind sees only a clean sweet girl with a normal smell of a aroused woman. Don't let him get stuck in his head on the "other smell".they are different. Hope my advice helps. I once had a woman insist I make love on her period. I was grossed out and never thought of her body the same. The smell was awful. Let us put you upon a pedestal and see you as immaculate princesses a vision we perpetuate and enjoy. PS::: All of you are beautiful. When God made you for us;he pulled out all the stops. All of you are everything we must have to be happy. There is so much more to a woman than just her vagina. Even though we aren't real good at self expression don't ever doubt our overall love and devotion to all of you as our necessary better half.

Answer

THANK YOU FOR NAMING THE OPRESSOR AS IS, NO BEATING AROUND THE BUSH! A Woman is Beautiful all the time I know! A Woman's cycle represents life! How could the original place of life be considered unclean? Who ever said that god was a man? Is that really possible? I need you to ponder that question all ego aside? It is not a good practice to have intercourse with a Woman during her cycle. Yes, a Woman is more sensitive during her cycle and that's due in part to the intuitive and psychic powers she receives while on her cycle. Please gentlemen respect a Woman's private spiritual time. As for the fishy odor, it usually represents BV Bacteria Vaginosis, Ladies try garlic suppository, tea tree oil suppository, apple cider vinegar with garlic oil and water douche homemade, acidophilus, vit e,c,a, and healthier choices in foods!

Holy Male Supremacist! what is this, please the man, so he should not see your unclean side? That's nasty, A woman is beautiful, ALL THE TIME... listen, buddy, only women can create life, not men... men are just sperm sacs. i can't believe you think you're above women, thinking they should please you when they are menstruating... I have had intercourse with women while they were menstruating, it's no big deal. I wear a condom.. besides, many women are more sensitive during their period... and it's a lot of fun... you shouldn't exclude sex during menstruation. Yes, vaginal odor occurs, but sometimes my penis doesn't smell like roses as well, after a long day at work. it's all about showering before sex. A douche is wrong, as previously noted, since it rids your vagina of natural good bacterias. I should know, I'm a gynecologist. If someone is worried about their odor to a point that it embarrasses them, maybe a change in diet would work: I suggest eating less starches, like bread products and rice, and eating more fruits (notably citrus) and vegetables. Garlic and Onions may produce a less attractive odor. I also respect a previous comment's suggestion of dipping a tampon in natural yogurt. Being a woman is very difficult in this patriarchal culture. Women are constantly led to believe that their images are wrong, to continue consuming products. this is Wrong, and Mr. Male Supremacist, you encouraged it. No thanks to you.

Answer

Well, I've read everything hear and feel no further ahead. From a male perspective I have to disagree with the guy who seems to think we are immune to vaginal odors. I've been with women that at one end of the spectrum have no unpleasant or noticeable odors at all, while at the other end of the spectrum I've been with women that smell like "death". In fact, a few women have been down right frightening because of the odor and you can't tell me that anyone (male or female) would tolerate it for a minute. There must be a simple low cost way of fixing this problem. BTW, I've noticed that any kind of food with garlic seems to cause or increase bad vaginal and body odors.

Answer

As a man I will tell you that not all women have fishy or musty odor. Some do have a Musky taste and scent that is related to body odor. This is different from the fishy or musty (like mildew) odor. The later are quite offensive and only bearable when highly horny but will leave a bad taste in the mouth of your lover. This will cause him to avoid oral sex with you and want to shorten intercourse time. So to recap- Not all women have stinky kinkies! Some have almost NO odor. Some have a bit of musk that can not be washed off and is more prone to be tasted and not smelt<?sp. But other women have problems with chronic infection and need to be treated (fishy/mildew odor). The catch is most doctors unless personally affected (they, or a partner have had the problem) will ignore claims and request for treatment if bacteriologic cultures are negative. The treatment should be Flagyl (antibiotic) and then start a supplement like Enzara and chlorophyll at the same time. ON the last day of the antibiotic start eating yogurt like mad (3x/day) also get a acidophyllus bottle from the cold section of the health food store and use that to cleans the vaginal area. I do not think douching is good but at times will be OK. Only use vinegar and water and then use acidophyllus as a chaser. Also most women with chronic infection have allergies (do you?) and eat crappy diets. Consult a naturopathic health care for diet recommendation. Tell them your problem this is their niche so to speak. Good luck, and you deserve to eat out more often.

There is a lot here on what a woman should do (understandably) but how does a man bring up the subject of a less than pleasant smelling vagina? I have had plenty of experience with women, and so know that there are a variety of different smells and degrees of smell, but the woman I am seeing at the moment definitely has an odour problem. My problem is that I do like her, and want to bring this up gently, so as to spare her feelings. It's not something that I can ignore anymore, and although I do enjoy going down on a girl, I just can't bring myself to do it now. Advise please?

Answer

          • Important**** ENZARA is (not) the best thing to consume. Yes, it does work but it also causes vision problems. Is it worth that??? NO!!! I will try everything else in the book in some of the things mentioned above until I can find something effective and mosted of all, safe.My problem is so bad that I have to try in stand atleast 6 feet away from a person in order for them not to notice and I shower everyday. What a nightmare!!! :-( ;-(

Answer

I am a lucky female with very strong vaginal muscles. During a bath, I can suck in water into my vagina and this cleanses my vagina thoroughly. I do it about 3 times. I squirt the water out of my vagina and this is my way of "douching". I don't even know if this method is safe or not, but since I can do it, I don't have any considerations over it. I have spoken to a lot of females if they can also do it, but to my knowledge, no one can. Don't know if I'm a freak or just plain lucky, he he.

I am 36 years of age and of European ancestry.

I do notice at times that I have internal vaginal odours, but I feel this is normal. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 29 years old, but must admit that I rarely have vaginal odours even though I'm sexually active. We should all be aware of our body odours and what appears to be normal or abnormal. A vagina is naturally a moist area and so it is expected that it have some odour from time to time, if not all the time. We all must take into consideration factors such as our lifestyle, diet, stress levels, hygiene and many other factors which we are not even aware of. We shouldn't freak out about the way our vagina smells like as it's an area of the body which does not smell like a bed of roses. Are armpits known to naturally smell like roses? I think not...

It is wise to discuss the situation with your doctor if you feel your vaginal odour is not normal. Always practice safe sex and personal hygiene is imperative.

If your partner is always complaining about your vagina odour, perhaps it's time to allocate a new partner, he he.

Answer

So ...we have all smelt malodorous women in public ... is that so? Well, let me tell you that the most common body odour I encounter in public, is the sweaty armpits of men!

Re: body and vaginal odour. Women's genitalia is only comprised partially of a vagina. The vulvais also prone to odour. The odour is noticeable when bacteria in the genital area are exposed to the air. Those bacteria are paramount for keeping the genital area clean. The vulva is made up of convolutions of skin, tucked away. Not unlike you mens' armpits, no? So when you sweat, and lift up your arms, we get a nosefull of it. Same with women's genitalia. It's just bacteria being exposed to the air in the envoronment.

We all have different body chemistry - body odours vary not just between men and women, but between individuals themselves. If you don't like somebody's body odour, don't presume they're "dirty".

Furthermore, anybody who insists that a women douche is ignorant beyond belief. The vagina is one of the most effective self-cleaning organs of the body. Don't tamper with it. You disturb the acid mantel and predispose yourself to infections.

As for not letting anybody near you during menstruation: that is a decision to be made between a woman and her partner. Not all men are phobic about menstruating women. And here's a newsflash: endometrium sustained your life for nine months! So get over the childish aversion. Besides, semen has one heck of a noxious odour, in my humble opinion. The smell of it makes me gag. But it doesn't repel me from my husband, as I realise it is just my personal reaction to that particular smell.

Understand the source of body odours, and what constitutes a "normal" odour. But acknowledge that the range of odours considered "normal" is extremely broad. Oh, and incidentally, we become acclimatised to our own bodily scents such that we don't detect how we normally smell: we tend only to detect changes in our own odour. So don't be surprised if you are quite stinky yourself!

Answer

Women, if you're experiencing abnormally bad odor from your vagina chances are you have a VERY common infection called Bacterial Vaginosis which is easily treated by taking an antibiotic called Flagyl...don't be embarrassed to talk to your doctor about it because, like I said, it's very common!

Now to the men on here, you keep talking about vaginal odor but what about when you guys sometimes smell like rotten cheese down there? What are we women supposed to do about that?

Answer

NEWS FLASH! Flagyl is carcinogenic and NO WOMAN IN HER RIGHT (LEFT) MIND SHOULD EVEN DREAM OF TAKING IT! Garllic suppositories, tea tree suppositories, plenty of yogurt or acidophilus pills w/o lactose if vegan, vitamins, a,e,c, and healthy eating. Please find more Female centered solutions to Women's issues!

Anyone looking for a great product thats safe to use daily or when you shower are bath that totally gets rid of vaginal odors should try this product my girlfriend did and believe me it works, an no way as expensive as enzara. The products name is her personal "for down there daily care" web address: http://www.herpersonal.com

SIMPLE WAY TO RID ODOR

The one poster is correct in saying that douching, sprays, perfumes are not good for you and neither is gel suppositories. It is also a good idea to use stick on pads (such as Always with Wings) instead of tampons. Tampons can cause irritation of the tissues and thus bacteria and infection!

All of you are wrong! It's about our Ph levels. Although there is certainly bacteria it's what you eat and don't do for the inside of your body that can cause this odor. I've had PMS, pre menopause and menopause. I don't take baths, but showers because the tissue inside the vagina are very delicate. I cut-back on yeast!!! Yes ladies, it's a yeast build-up and if you don't believe me on this one go to any Homeopathic doctor. Even the male gynos know little about anything regarding a woman and are way behind the times. Read your labels and stay away from yeast and then after 6 - 8 weeks (you'll notice a difference and feel a lot better within a week to 10 days) gradually introduce just a small bit of yeast back into your system. Cutting out the yeast also will help an over-weight person lose weight! Drink lots of water and Pomegranate juice is an excellent toxidant as is Cranberry juice (nature forms of course with no sugar added.)

As far as the men making an observation I think it's great! Whether some were right or wrong isn't the point ... they tried! It appears guys can't win with gals. If they don't comment then they are pigs and don't understand a thing or even try, yet if they do they are still pigs. Think about that one!
