[Edit] |
Answer
The answer to your question is NO, a collection company absolutly can not touch your assets, income, or bank accounts without a court order. Even for them to attain that, they would have to take you to court and litagate, and even this scenario is unlikely (although still possible).
There is a terrific web site that you may visit that provides a terrific explaination of collection company tactics and policies. Visit Credit Problems.
Hope this helps! :o)
Answer
THEY CAN NOT TOUCH YOUR ASSETS, INCOME ETC, BUT THEY CAN TAKE YOU TO COURT AND PLACE A JUDGEMENT AGAINST YOU BUT IF YOU ARE STILL UNEMPLOYED YOU HAVE NO INCOME ANY WAY SO THEN YOU WOULD BECOME JUDGEMENT PROOF UNTIL YOU FIND EMPLOYMENT. ONLY AFTER JUDGEMENT IS IN PLACE CAN THEY SEEK A GARNISHMENT IF YOU STILL FAIL TO PAY THE AMOUNT AGREED UPON IN COURT.
JUST WENT THRU IT SO IT IS FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE!!!
