What brand of motorcycle jacket is recommended as best? |
[Edit] |
Answer
In the opinion of Timberwoof of Timberwoof's Motorcycle FAQ:: Aerostich, Joe Rocket, Tourmaster, or FirstGear.
He notes, "Leather looks sexy and works; Cordura is functional and works; Shorts and a T-shirt are an invitation to skin grafts. Jackets can be had relatively inexpensively at pawn shops or through Internet retailers. Make sure that the leather is good and thick, not the thin garment leather that most stylish leather jackets are made of."
Answer
You will only ever get an opinion. Each and every designer will hype their product, it's business. It's more about personal choice and the motorcycling you do. My preference is textile, not just because it's waterproof and flexible, it breathes, is cool in summer warm in winter, doesn't rot and has fantastic armour built in, but also because it fits properly. I have two very different motorcycles and four jackets, The jacket with the designer label is not superior in its protection, it is on a par with the others. But it was a special gift and is only worn on special occasions.
Answer:
Depending on your own feelings if you decided to use leather or textiles.. I personally like leather but it can be a bit warm in the summer... So I use textiles during these months... with built in armour... My suggestion to all riders is to not just buy one coat.. Talk to your local dealers and buy what feels comfortable on you and as the seller his personal perferences. Don't buy the most expensive but don't buy the cheapest either. Their is always a happy medium...
