Although many aliens in science fiction have been characterized as evil, there are many examples of good or benign aliens. These include Vulcans in the Star Trek universe and the character played by Michael Rennie in the movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still. There are many additional good examples in Star Wars and Star Trek, as well as in the written literature such as the works of Larry Niven, among others.
