What are visions?

Visions both come from and are about God, their understanding is given by God, and can only be understood and interpreted if a person has the Holy Spirit of God. They come at night when a person is asleep, and are frightening. They can appear to anyone, but in the Millennium everyone will have them.

Visions come at night:-

Gen 46:2 And God spake unto Israel [ie Jacob, before God re-named him Israel] in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, ...

Dan 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, ....

Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, .....


Visions come when a person is asleep:-

Job 4:13 In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men


Visions are frightening:-

Job 7:14 Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:


Dan 4:5 I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

Dan 7:15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Visions can appear to anyone:
- patriachs:-

-Kings:-

-prophets:-

Eze 13:16 To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her...

-prisoners:-

Eze 1:1 Now it came to pass..., as I was among the captives ... that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.


The understanding of visions is given by God:-

Dan 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.


Visions can only be understood and interpreted if a person has the Holy Spirit of God, but if they don't it has to be explained to them:-

Dan 4:9 O Belteshazzar [ie Daniel],... because I know that the is in thee, ... spirit of the holy godstell me [ie King Nebuchadnezzar] the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.



In the Millennium everyone will see visions:-

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
