Christ prepared for the building of His Church by:

1. Laying a firm foundation.

• Isaiah 28:16 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste."
• 1Corinthians 3:11 "For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
• Ephesians 2:19-20 "Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone;"

2. Purchasing it with His own blood.

• Act 20:28 "Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood."

3. Releasing gifts from heaven.

• Ephesians 4:7-12 "But to every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore He says, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

4. Washing it clean.

• Ephesians 5:23-27 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
• Ephesians 2:21-22 "In whom all the building fitly framed together, grows to a holy temple in the Lord: In whom you also are built together, for a habitation of God through the Spirit."
