Was turkey served at the first Thanksgiving dinner? In: Thanksgiving [Recategorize] |

Turkey was not prized as the defining food of Thanksgiving dinner as it is today. It is possible that turkey was on the menu, but it would have just been another bird that was shot the same as a duck or a goose. It would have been cooked differently. More than likely the turkey would have been roasted over a fire or boiled. It certainly would not have been deep fried in oil or stuffed and oven roasted as it is today.
