Caravaggio an Accurate Portrayal

Caravaggio was a supposed homosexual and prone to violent outbursts. More than once, he was thrown out of Italian towns and villages because of fights. It is said that he once killed a male lover by stabbing him. Nevertheless he was an accomplished artist, with a style that bridged the Renaissance and Italian Baroque, Artemisia Gentileschi is his most famous follower.

My answer- Yes, according to most historical accounts of his life, the type of life he led was accurately portrayed, but the details may not be exactly true. Read Helen Langdon's book Caravagio :A life . She did a great deal of research, much of which is based on original police reports($48. hardbound)
