Was Fidel Castro good or bad for Cuba?

According to the U.S. government, Castro was bad for Cuba. However, the majority of Cuban citizens supported Castro and were pretty happy with his leadership which is contrary to what the media portrays with their propaganda. Cubans have universal healthcare, their rate of homelessness is pretty low, and most Cubans have food on the table every day. Even the U.S. cannot make this claim, so Castro must have done something correct all those years to remain in power and keep his people functional.

While it is true that the majority of Cubans supported Castro in 1959 as time went on a lot of Cubans became disenchanted with Castro's government and policies. He stayed in power with tyranny and the threat of death to those that opposed him.

Think about it, why would so many Cubans risk death in order to reach the US? Why did so many relocate to Spain and South America?

True they have universal healthcare, so does Canada. Homelessness is pretty low, unfortunately the homes are little more than ramshackle dumps. They have food on the table every day, unfortunately they can't afford to buy a nice juicy T-bone, just pass the rice and beans please!
