I immigrated to USA from the Philippines 1995. My first job is truck-driving (June 1995) and at present I'm still driving trucks. I've visited all the 48 states and some part of Canada (Ontario & Quebec). After the 9-11 attack, the company I drove for stopped dispatching their drivers to Canada because of the hassle on border crossing.
English is my second language, and there may be errors on my spelling, gender and tenses (Pls give allowances).
I was raised as a Roman Catholic, attended Kinder & Elementary at Catholic schools and Graduated High School in a Protestant School (Union High School of Manila class 1964).
I'd rather read books than watch TV/movies. I no longer read newspapers and listen to radio news. Same (bad) things happen everyday, the only difference is the person, or group, or Political party, or Political ideologies that is currently involve.
My Favorite authors are James Michener, Gary Jennings, Khalil Gibran, James Clavell, Thich Nhat Hahn, Thomas Cleary, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Daniel P. Reid..
I have a choice on what to read or watch and I'd rather spend my time in reading those that are Positive. But of course what is positive to me maybe the opposite to someone because of cultural, religious, political, social, etc., conditioning.
I won't let anybody tell me what's good for me. The same way that I won't tell others what is good for them. Nobody knows me better than I know myself. I'm not impressed by titles (PhD's, Theologians, etc.)
I've studied Taoism, Buddhism, Objectivism, Humanism, Atheism, Agnosticism and is currently studying the works of Jiddu Krishnamurti.
I believe that I can change for the good through my own efforts.
I try to practice moderation and simplicity of life style.
Don't ask me about my religion or my faith. It is private between me and what I believed in.
Don't ask me if I believe in god. Because I'll ask you which of the hundreds of named god are you talking about. I believe that if we have not studied all of these gods (which is an impossibility), then the question (do you believe in god?) is preposterous; and to assert that the god we believed in at present is the true god, is credulous.
The same is true to assert that "There is no god".
But one thing I believe about god; If we need a god to correct our character faults (sins), like; covetuousness, envy, jealousy, materialism, egoism, etc., then humans are a sorry lot indeed..
Parting note; If god wants to reveal something to us, will He reveal it to others or will He reveal it directly to us?
