I'm Matthew, the WikiAnswers Community Coordinator, here to help with all of your WikiAnswering needs! ;-) If you have questions about any aspects of the website, please send me a message on my message board. In addition, my e-mail address is wikimatthew at gmail.com.

In my spare time I moonlight as an Atlanta Braves fan and a wannabe venture capitalist (diversification? what's that?). I remember when I first met WikiAnswers. I could say it was love at first site but I just thought it was a cool concept... Anyone can ask a question and receive one answer from the community that was improved through collaboration over time. As I started returning to the site on a regular basis, my OCD began to kick in and before I knew it I was up all night, strung out on splitting and merging. I've been a full-blown Wikiholic for quite some time now and I doubt there are enough steps in any recovery program to stop me from WikiAnswering.

My specialty is splitting erroneous alternate wordings from their parent question. Oftentimes when a user asks a question they will hastily indicate that it is the same as another existing question when it actually isn't. Their question is then added as an alternate wording for that existing question. If an alternate wording is asking something different (even if it is a slight variation on the parent question, i.e. "What is the population of New York City?" vs. "What was the population of New York City in 2007?") it should be split into a separate question so that it can receive a customized answer of its own. There are only a few exceptions to this rule. If you would like to learn more about splitting alternate wordings or are in doubt over whether an alternate wording should be split off feel free to post a note for me on my message board.

I chose "Brave3" as my username because Dale Murphy is my favorite baseball player of all-time. He wore the uniform number "3". Unlike so many of his peers, Murphy respected both the game and his fans. When he argued with an umpire it was headline news. He gave generously of his time and money to benefit the community and various charities. Unfortunately, his career was cut short due to injury. His many accomplishments on the field, including back-to-back MVP awards, 398 home runs, 5 straight Gold Gloves, and 740 consecutive games played, have not been enough to convince most baseball writers to vote him into the Hall of Fame. Voting is supposed to be based on "playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played." It is curious how Pete Rose and Joe Jackson can be excluded due to their lack of integrity and character; yet few writers will take into account Dale Murphy's unrivaled integrity, sportsmanship, and character when casting their Hall of Fame votes.

To my knowledge, I hold the distinction of being the first supervisor to be temporarily blocked from the site (before we had a dedicated jokes category I had posted too many cheesy joke questions!).
