Should parents be driving their kids around when they're 18 years old? |
[Edit] |
Answer
No! It's embarrassing! At 18 they are no longer a minor. If you live somewhere that doesn't have transit of sorts or your teenager doesn't have a car, then if they request a ride to be dropped off somewhere that is one thing. When I was younger and even at 16 my father gave me money which I kept in my wallet and told me if I was ever stuck just to take a cab home, and if I didn't have money to take a cab home and he'd pay for it when I got there.
Two years ago I had to take my 19 year old nephew to a meeting at a college and he didn't have his own car. He said nothing, but needed the ride, so I slide over and said, "Here, drive!" He was so excited and did a good job driving. I saved him from embarrassment and told him to tell his friends he had to drop his aunt off somewhere (I was just the passenger.)
Answer
what do you think? There's nothing wrong with it, if the parents don't mind and the kid doesn't mind either, although at that age, usually people will attempt to get their license.
