Answer
Not a medical answer, but... I was recently diagnosed with ADHD by a psycologist. He referred me to a psychiatrist who felt that I was depressed. The psychiatrist took me off Strattera--which my PC physican prescribed--and put me on Wellbutrin. He felt that Straterra was causing anxiety and increased depression as a side effect. But, I couldn't concentrate at all! The psychiatrist then put me back on Strattera (bcause it had been effective for concentrating and remembering). But to curb the side effects, which seemed to be an issue, he now has me taking both. Currently, I feel like I can concentrate and don't suffer from increased anxiety or depression as a side effect of Strattera.
Good luck!

I am 21 and have been trying to find the perfect combonation of medications for me since age 14. I have ADD, Panic dissorder, and depression. It is possible to take certain antidepressants with ADD meds, but i suggest being careful and either researching what the Dr. reccomends or talking to your pharmacist, because I had a horrible interaction with Effexor and Adderall. My dr. didn't know that they acted against eachother and caused severe headaches, hospitalization, and caused a blood vessel to pop. This doesn't happen with all antidepressants though. I took Paxil cr with Adderall at one point and with Strattera at another point, and didn't have dangerous sideaffects. It has a lot to do with your own brain chemistry too, so not everyone reacts the same to meds. Just be careful and talk to pharmacists since they study the actual drugs itself.
MEDICINES OR DRUGS?
I personally have had a nightmarish time with ADD meds. I took Adderall for 4 years, eventually started having major panic attacks, went through major withdrawels to get off, all the doc's did was try and give me Xanax and Ambien to sleep (NIGHTMARE) I had panic attacks like I had never had before (mind you I never had any before starting psychotropic medication). My stomach eventually quite working right due to all the stress and toxin's from the medication in my liver. I've now had a Naturopathic Doctor (the one's who have been to a 4 year medical school - not a quack) whose slowly brought my body back into balance and I'm now doing wonderful.
I used to be you both, I thought these things were medicines that would only better my life, I thought that all the bad press regarding these drugs didn't apply to me because they just simply helped me so much. I was very wrong. PLEASE RECONSIDER AND DO SOME MAJOR RESEARCH BEFORE TAKING ANY OF THESE MEDICINES - DON'T TRUST YOUR DOCTOR (AT LEAST DON'T TRUST THE ONE'S I'VE BEEN TO)!
